For a project in Rotterdam harbour, tube-piles 2.42 m diameter and 37 m long are to be installed. The customer has asked GEO2 Engineering B.V. to make an analysis of the vibrations, and to identify the effects of the expected vibration intensities on the sea bed around the pile.

The first job is to carry out an analysis of the pile-driving and vibration requirements, in order to determine which equipment (pile-driving hammer and vibration block) is needed to place the tube-pile at the required depth. On this basis, an analysis was made of vibrations in the sea bed: these were then compared with the allowable boundary conditions.
