Gerdien graduated from the Technical University of Delft in 1997 with a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Her graduation specialism was ‘Prevention of silting-up of the foundation-bed prior to immersing the øresund tunnel’.**
Thereafter, she immediately took a job with one of the largest geotechnical consulting companies in the Netherlands. During these first years of her career, she gained experience in a wide variety of geotechnical projects. After a period of working in property development, Gerdien then returned to the world of engineering.
In GEO2 Engineering B.V. Gerdien is responsible for the geotechnical problems and design within various infrastructural projects (usually as a member of a building team handling the design and/or implementation phase). She has been involved, for example, in the installation of a sound-wall for the extension of the Rosada Fashion Outlet in Roosendaal (the Netherlands), various design solutions for tenders such as the Terneuzen Canal Underpass, the sea harbour at Breskens and several railway underpasses (Feanwâlden, Hurdegaryp and Werpsterhoek).
Gerdien is client-oriented, technically well-informed, inventive, practical and solution-oriented.
