Abjan (1976) obtained his Engineer’s Diploma (Master’s Degree) in Civil Engineering from the Technical University of Delft, with the specialism in Structural Hydraulic Engineering.
Since then, he has worked as a Geotechnical Consultant in the technical design departments of large building construction companies, with involvement in a range of tendering and implementation projects both within the Netherlands and abroad. These projects include complex construction pits in urban surroundings, foundations (for high-rise buildings), large-scale projects for public transport infrastructure, waterside quay walls and two aqueduct structures. He has also developed experience in geohydrology and has undertaken work in the area of (Structural) Hydraulic Engineering.
Abjan has been a Partner and Senior Consultant Geotechnics in GEO2 Engineering B.V. since its formation in 2009. He has been involved, for example, in the design of various railway underpass constructions (Feanwâlden, Hurdegaryp, Leiden and Werpsterhoek in the Netherlands), the geotechnical design of the Botlek Bridge, and in leading a geotechnical team busy with the DBFM contract for the A15 Maasvlakte-Vaanplein motorway. Abjan also plays an active role in coaching colleagues, in participating in CUR Committees, in teaching a number of specialist courses in the programme of Soil Mechanics and Foundation Technology (CGF-1) and he contributes to the further development of the GEO2 organisation.
Abjan is client-oriented with a strongly analytical mind, which enables him to rapidly get to the core of a practical design.
